Dragonwell Green Tea

The Dragonwell (or “Lung Ching” "Longjing" in local parlance) is praised for its four uniqueness- jade color, vegetative aroma, mellow chestnut flavor and singular shape. Its leaves are broad and flat. It is the famous Chinese green tea which is originated in Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, China. The tea leaves are hand-shaped in hot wok to create a distinctive, flat shape. The leaves are picked in early spring and have a golden sheen. Dragonwell tea is refreshingly smooth, sweet and delicate and is among the very best of Chinese greens. When brewed, it has a soothing aroma, lightly sweet fragrant, with a hint of chestnut. It flat shape easily differentiate it from other teas.

Dragonwell Tea & Its Story

Dragonwell’s name was originally derived from a local spring. Legend says that it is the lair of a dragon.  It had been presented as tribute to many generations of Chinese emperors.  With its high reputation, it was also the tea served to Richard Nixon in his memorable encounter with Mao Tse-Tung.

How to Prepare Dragonwell Green Tea

Use 1 teaspoon of tea per 8oz of water. Heat water to 175-180 degrees and steep tea for 1.5-2 minutes. 2oz of tea equals 25-30 teaspoons.
